We are creatures of habit. We get set in our ways, write out our to-doās in our daily planners and can generally expect what our life typically looks like.Ā However, we cannot plan how hard it is to accept news of a health issue.Ā We cannot plan for how hard it is to handle heartbreak when a relationship falls apart.Ā I personally could not plan for the fear and anxiety that accompanied moving our family across the country, leaving a church family and sense of normalcy.
Hold fast to the truth and hope in Jesus…
When uncertainty hits us, it is far easier to allow doubt, fear and anxiety to overwhelm our minds than it is to hold fast to the truth and hope in Jesus. We go from saying āI know whatās happening in my lifeā to āI donāt know what to expectā. And that can be scary.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, āFor I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.ā
We can never be sure what lies ahead, but we can find hope in his promises.Ā We may not have any idea on how our current circumstance is going to shake out, but we do know that God is good. He is faithful. He loves us and wants what is best for us.
Where are we putting our trust?
So where are we putting our trust? In ourselves, or in our savior? When we become fearful and anxious about an uncertain outcome, we let worried thoughts sneak in, and truth of our loving savior be pushed out.
Paul reminds us in Romans 8:38-39 says, āfor I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lordā
Find hope by speaking truth!
It is because you put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ that nothing can separate you from Godās love.Ā Speak that truth to yourself!Ā When you are overcome by unknown outcomes, whether in a relationship, a health issue or a move across the country, you can be certain that God loves you and He will never forsake you. Ā Seek the same confidence as Paul, when he says we can be SURE of this, that absolutely nothing can separate us from his love.
There is hope in uncertainty.
Let the peace of this truth set you free from worry and fear. No matter what God wills for your life, face it with the confidence, strength and hope that he is with you and will never be separated from you. He is watching with open arms; all you need to do is run to him. Trust leads to hope. When we put our trust in him and live in his presence, the fears of our unknown circumstances melt away, and we can live a life of hope illuminated by the peace and assurance of his love.
