Craft Room Organization Part 1
Who loves organization?? I mean, with all the amazing magazine-worthy Pinterest pictures and inspiration, who wouldn’t want to get their life in order. But in real life, who keeps their spaces that spic and span (especially with kids)?? It’s one thing to get everything put away, but it’s a whole other ballgame to KEEP it that way, ammiright?!
But even though it’s tough to STAY organized, I still love the effort (and the payoff when it actually stays that way for longer than a day, which luckily around here, it usually does!)
So, if you said yes to my first question, then you’re in good company my friend 😊!! I’d like to welcome you to my absolute favorite space in my house. . . my CRAFT ROOM!!
This is Part 1 in my Craft Room Organization Series! Over the next few weeks, I’ll be going through each area of my craft room with organization tips, tricks and resources! I hope you enjoy, and get some inspiration for your creative spaces!

So, part 1 in my Craft Room Organization Series covers one of my favorite home storage units, the Elfa Laundry Room from The Container Store. I originally bought this wall unit for my laundry room (naturally), but was able to utilize it more in my craft room! With super easy installation (all you have to screw into the wall is the top bar, that’s it! The rest just hangs from that!), it goes up quickly and you can get to decorating! You can order online, or visit your local store where they keep most everything in stock! Yes!!
Here’s mine before:
Bare bones, I know. I was taking everything off so I could start over 😉 But you can see how I screw in the top horizontal bar, and then the long vertical bars hang from it. They are full of slits, that shelves and baskets can hang from. It makes rearranging very easy and manageable! So, if you like to switch things up a lot like I do, you’ll LOVE an Elfa unit.
Here’s how I put mine back together:
What’s great, is that I was able to PURGE a lot of stuff I didn’t use anymore, and was actually left with space!! You don’t always have to fill every nook and cranny! It’s quite refreshing to have left over space when you’re done 🙂 This isn’t the only way to arrange the shelves either! There’s lots of accessories to choose from to make this space just right for you and your home!
Ok, I love, love, love the utility board!! I usually have lots of small and random things laying around my work space. This area allows me to put all my most used things away in a cute and convenient spot. I love it! Another thing I love about this unit is that it has a nice work space as well, where you can wrap gifts, set a small ironing board, or do any small project.
I grabbed some cool black basket tags that hang perfectly on my wicker baskets! You can write on them with chalk markers, so there’s no printing or keeping track of tags! And I moved some random jars up to the tip-top shelf. It’s a great spot for things you’re not quite ready to use, but still want to display 😊
The drawers slide very smoothly! And they’re deep and wide enough to hold practical things! I like to store my large gift bags, packaging supplies, and projects I’m working on. They also come with cool little clip on tags for each drawer!
So there you have it, the first storage area in my craft room organization series! Don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter and receive the free printable October Toy Declutter Calendar! Come back and visit for Part 2 in my Craft Room Organization Series, the GIFT WRAP STATION!!!
