God always knows what’s on our heart and mind. Whether we have the words or not.
For me, that’s really frustrating. š I like to organize my thoughts, have the right words, say-what-I-mean and mean-what-I-say. But often times in quiet prayer, I’m speechless. The thoughts are running rampant and I can’t even make a clear thought cry out to the Lord. I forget that even though I can’t find the words, he’s reading my heart. He knows.
And for the moments of prayer, early in the morning or late at night, when I can’t slow down my mind enough to know where to start, I have this sweet gem in my spiritual toolbox; A Diary of Private Prayer by John Baillie
Enjoy this excerpt from First Day, Morning: “Yet when this morning prayer is finished, do not let me think that my worship is ended and spend the rest of the day forgetting you. Rather, from these quiet moments, let light and joy and power pour out and remain with me through every hour of this day.“
If you don’t already have this book, I highly recommend you consider adding it to your own spiritual toolbox š I truly think you will not be disappointed. I pray this book will bring you the same peace and joy that it brings me.
Here’s a link to the book if you’d like to add it to your library too!
May God’s grace shine upon you.
Joyfully, Nikki
