Finding the perfect daily schedule for 4 kids is no easy feat. It’s a fluid thing really, changing every year if not every month. So for the Type A like me, who thrives on schedules and checking the box, it has been daunting at times to realize I need to switch it up again. Not always…but sometimes.
Nevertheless, having any sort of schedule is necessary for me. Why? Because it helps me stay on track, know what is expected, and if it doesn’t get accomplished that week, I still know the flow of the schedule. We will inevitably get off track. Sickness, beautiful days to be outside, trips and appointments find their way in. But a daily schedule takes the guess work out of where to pick back up. Just start where you left off š
As 2019-2020 has been our first year flying solo, I have tweaked and tinkered this daily schedule nearly every week! It’s a little crazy, and I think I’m overthinking it a lot of the time. But here is where we have landed, and what I’m (hoping) we’ll stick to this until we finish our books!
This is not a curriculum list, it’s simply our list of daily subjects. I will be posting our curriculum picks from this year, and what worked and what didn’t. I pray that will bless fellow homeschoolers as well. Also the ages we have at each grade are 11 (6th), 9 (4th), 6 (1st) and 4 (PreK).
I wanted to share our daily schedule because not one year ago I was scouring the internet for hours, looking for homeschool blogs that could show me how they do it! And I found a few good ones š Ultimately, seeing the layout of the day was a tremendous help to me, and if you’re here for the same reasons, I pray this is a help for you too, friend š And if you’re just checking it out, hey that’s cool too!
Side note – As much as I like to stick to the regular “school year” followed by most public schools, which is start end of August and go til middle of May or so, I’m not quite sure that will be a good fit for our family for 2020-2021. I see our family gravitating towards a more “year round” homeschool. I’m praying that may give us the stress-free feel we need, and we can appreciate and enjoy our days that much more. We shall see.
Joyfully, Nikki
