Sew Sampler Mini Quilt!
Wow, August is almost over!Ā That means weāre getting closer to fall (and yes, all of my decorations are out alreadyā¦ just sayinā š).
Here in New Mexico, we experience the fabulous downpours of the monsoons during mid-summer.Ā They are basically my cue that summer is ending and fall is on the way!Ā This year, it hit right at the end of July, and little by little, the early mornings are getting a hint of chilly crispnessā¦ ahhh, isnāt that the best!?
Thinking back to May, when school was letting out, I had big ambitions of the projects I would complete over the summerā¦ we certainly started our summer with big project ideas, and great intentions to finish them, but ever so often, we end summer thinking, āwhere did the time GO?Ā I havenāt finished anything!!ā Ā I know Iām not the only oneā¦
And thatās ok!Ā Over here, my Mulligan crew were travelinā fools this summer.Ā So taking time to sit in my craft room and complete ANY project on my to-do list was pretty much pushed to the back burnerā¦and Iām ok with that.Ā The summer trips were sooooooo worth it š
Can you relate?Ā When life gets so hectic and busy, most of our hobbies and enjoyable activities get put on HOLDā¦sometimes indefinitely.
But sometimes, they donāt š And as the smell of fall is in the air, and routines kick back in with school and extracurricular activities, I actually found some time to complete a project on my listā¦my VERY FIRST quilt!!
AAHHHHhhhhh!!! (giddy screams!)
Iāve been sewing for a couple years now, and Iām still a beginner!Ā So, the idea of making a real-life quilt was kinda daunting.Ā It sat there, for a long, long time.Ā Until I decided Iād slow down, and do it in little bits each time I made it into my craft room.Ā It took me 3 months, but itās done!!
Here’s a close up of the quilting on top.Ā I just simply straight-lined quilted the top, following my seams 1/4″ on each side.Ā Easy peasy!
But, sewing projects and quilts can seem like an intimidating pastime, really just getting past the idea of threading a machine!Ā But the fruit of the labor put in to each project is so sweet, and something you can cherish and pass along to generations to come.
Interested in trying this quilt out for yourself?Ā You should!Ā It came in a quilt KIT, which is awesome because all materials and instructions are included!Ā Kits make the beginning quilting experience super great!Ā I got this quilt kit in a fun monthly box I order from the Fat Quarter Shop, called the Sew Sampler Subscription Quilt Box
