Today I’m showing you a quick tutorial on how to add cute, simple page tabs to your bible, using washi tape!
I found this beautiful journal bible (above) tucked away on a shelf in one of my favorite local stores! I wanted tabs on it immediately, but didn’t want the typical ones with names poking out to the side…I have them on my regular every day bible, and as I pull on them, pages have ripped and folded in…it’s just not my favorite.
So! I found a few super simple tutorials on Pinterest for placing washi tape on the first page of each book, and decided to try it out for myself. It creates a clean, crisp, nice and neat, beautiful edge to your pages! I’m loving it, and I hope you do too!!
Step 1
Gather your supplies:
- 5-7 different washi tapes
- Bible (journaling bibles are great!)
- Wax paper (only need 1 sheet for the whole process!)
- Scissors
Total time to complete: roughly 2 hours.
Step 2
Tear off a sheet of wax paper a little bit bigger than your bible. Find the page you want to tab, and place the wax paper behind it. Like so:
Step 3
Choose a washi tape, and tear off a piece just slightly longer than your page. I eye-balled it, but attach the tape half-way off the page. You’ll have half of the tape hanging off onto the wax paper, like so:
And when you turn the page over, you’ll see the other half of the tape through the wax paper!
Step 4
After turning the page, peel off the wax paper (from inside to outside the bible), and fold the remaining washi tape over the page to close it. Like so:
Step 5
Take your scissors, and trim the tape hanging off the edges. Simply follow the edge of the page to trim!
Done with your first page!!! See how easy that is!? Just set aside some time and you’ll be so happy you did!
For my bible, I did the first page of each book! You’ll need around 2 hours. I did mine over the course of 3 days, because you know, kids and all… š
Have fun! And let me know how it goes for you in the comments below! Thanks for visiting!
